Raju Das Baul, a gifted musician and virtuoso of Baul music, hails from the culturally and spiritually rich region of Bolpur, Santiniketan, in West Bengal. He is widely recognized as one of the most promising young representatives of Baul music, a deeply philosophical and spiritual folk tradition. His journey into the world of music began at a very young age, nurtured by the environment in which he grew up. Born into a family with a strong connection to Baul music, his father, a Baul musician himself, became his first mentor and guide.

Raju’s musical journey began at the tender age of five, when he first started learning the intricacies of Baul music from his father. At the age of six, a transformative moment in his life occurred when he received spiritual initiation from his Guru, Shree Satyananda Das Baul, an influential figure in his life and music. This initiation was not just a step in his musical journey but also a spiritual awakening, aligning his path with the rich spiritual philosophies of the Baul tradition. His childhood was filled with the sounds of traditional Baul songs and teachings, as he was brought up in close association with Baul families, absorbing the essence of the tradition firsthand.
